I want to lighten the color slightly. Can I treat the wood with household bleach ? Is there another treatment that will do the job ?

In particular, I am working with the Kangaroo/Koala inlay kit from Kallenshaan. In the kits I bought, the kangaroo and koala pieces are too similar in color to the barrel. I want them to be more different from the barrel, but I don't want to completely whiten either the animal images or the barrel.

I suppose I run the risk of the pieces warping due to the moisture and then no longer fitting together.

Any comments and ideas would be appreciated. . Thanks

Mal; You could go to the craft store and purchase some alcohol dyes to change the color without loosing any of the of the grain. Try them on your scrap pieces first to see what change is going to be made before using on your cutout piece. Jim S
