I read a lot on here about turning between centers being the way to go so, being an experimental type, I had to give it a try. I watched all the videos on YouTube and the first thing I noticed was that you can only do half of a 2 part pen at a time. Hmmmm. Still I made the plunge and ordered the centers and a set of bushings from Johnny CNC. (Great guy by the way). They came in on Friday and I didn't get a chance to try them until Sunday. WOW, so smooth and solid. Looks like I will be ordering some more bushings. I still reload the mandrel after turning them down so I can put the CA finish on both barrels at the same time. I recommend this to everyone that has ever thought about taking the plunge. I now drill, end prep, turn and finish on the lathe. Now if I could only figure out how to cut my blanks to length on the lathe too I would have more room in my shop.
