Can somebody tell me the best way to stabilize corn cobs for turning? My first attempt...well, honestly my first attempt was stolen by a mouse that got into my shop; he received the death penalty for his crime. So, my second attempt failed terribly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ozzy,
I've hade good luck with cutting the cob to length, drill the hole
turn on the lathe to get the soft part off, almost to the finished size
then soaking them in Minwax wood hardner about 30 min,let dry then
glue the tubes in,let dry, mill the ends and put some thin CA on the
ends. Turn as normal, sand and fill the voids with CA or wood filler
sand again and then color with a sharpie or leave natural and then
finish as you would a wood or acrylic blank. This works for me.
I hope this helps. If you need some corn cobs let me know.
