Something weird is going on with my belt/disc sander. It runs on an externally mounted 1/2 hp motor. The motor always worked fine until I put in on the sander. When I would turn it on, it would need some "help" to get going (and no the belt is not too tight), but that was the only issue. Then, two days ago, I flipped the switch and it started right up... the wrong way! I switched the clips on the motor... still the wrong way. Switched them back... still the wrong way. What happened??? Now I can't use the belt sander.

Yup----the safety part first-----the capacitor is for storage----it will shock you.
make a few calls and find a local motor repair shop---take the old capacitor with you.
On that size of motor it should be about $6.00---just a guess.

May make me look stupid, but... where's the capacitor? And, do you think the small engine shop down the street would have what I need?

EDIT: I think I know what I'm looking for now. Is it easily accessible?
