Ads for the Beall three wheel buffing mandrel say it's an 18 inch mandrel turned to a #2 morris taper on one end. Anyone that has one: does this 18 inch length include the taper or is it 18in of mandrel? I'm trying to decide if it will fit my Jet 1014.

<snip> I'm trying to decide if it will fit my Jet 1014.

I used one on a Jet 1014VS and it's a tight fit. I used the stock Jet live center and while not an ideal fit to the mandrel end dimple, it did work. My 60* live center would have been a better fit but it extended a bit too far and the mandrel would not fit w/o modification.

Have you considered getting an old motor and setting up the wheels for a dedicated buffing station? I used the wheel kit that came with the quick change adapter and find the setup very handy to use whenever needed which is a lot.
