I have decided to take a break from pen turning temporarily and would like to try to turn a simple bowl. I have read several books, but they all seem to be geared to a more experienced turner than I. Can anybody suggest a book or cd that is structured for a pure beginner such as me. I need to learn how to shape the sides and how to hollow it out and everything else associated with making a bowl. Thanks for any and all suggestions.

My suggestion would be to have someone show you. Maybe there is an IAP member nearby or a local turning club? Rockler and Woodcraft often have 1 day classes for beginners.

Check out AAW there seems to be 7 clubs in Ohio.
I am sure they can help. I am in two such clubs and there is a wealth of knowledge in them.
www.woodturner.org click on find a chapter ,then enter state.
