I think the wood for this mill is called Kiat. It's a very porous/open grained wood but is has some nice figure.
This one is 8" tall.

Great PM... I don't make that style, (I tend to be measurably challenged... I cut it, it's too short, cut it again and it's still too short.:curse::redface
I use the crush/grind mechanisms mostly, but usually have to tell people they are peppermills... they are still looking for the knurl on the top.
