I've been travelling around Australia calling in on various wood clubs and wood workers, in a camper towing a trailer full of wood and wood working gear, a sort of hobby holiday .

I was in the south-west at a place called Margaret River, home of the giant Jarrah trees (amongst others), plus heaps of other beautiful species. At one friends 100 acre property he has heaps including some spectacularly figured sheoak. After filling every spare space within the trailer I made this pepper Crushgrind pepper grinder for them from some of the the Sheoak. They requested the smooth simple shape to show of the grain to the best advantage rather than fancy beads etc. Amazing lace and tangled figure on this piece, just one bug hole I filled with coffee, finish NC Lacquer. Sorry about then photos, very bright day and timber really absorbs the light, plus only a phone camera.
