Yes it is hollow. Magnolia is fairly light to start with but these ornaments after hollowing end up being about two ounces in weight.

Wow! Nice ornament! I've never turned magnolia nor purple heart and am looking forward to it! What kind of hollowing tools did you use to hollow the globe? I have Sorby's micro hollowing system but have not tried to hollow with it yet... Thanks for sharing and giving me one more idea to try! Safe turning to you!

Thanks David! I love the Sorby micro skew and several of the other Sorby micro tools but have never used their hollowing tools...now you've got me itching to give them a try! I've only been using larger diameter drill bits to make them a little lighter, but initially bought the system to try using them for hollowing, but have just shied away from doing it... Now I've got to try them! Thanks for giving me the confidence to try them on smaller HF's!!! Again, safe turning to you and safe turning!
