This is my Grandson Blaine's first pen. He did a great job of following instructions and as with this brother Scott is a natural on the lathe. He went with a satin gold slimline and dressed in up in a Peruvian Walnut blank. He sanded to 12000 mm and finished it with 10 coats of WFT. He is very proud of his first pen and I have to say I am as well. All C&C are welcome.

Nice job...it's amazing how BIG the tools look in smaller hands. It's also cool that he has a memento to remind him of the time spent with you when he is older and spending time with his kids/grandkids...

The kids like spending time in the shop with their Pepaw. Both Scott and Blaine want to make a stylus to use with a tablet. They wanted to make a mine one but I think they may get lost. Thanks for the nice comments, Blaine get the biggest smile when I read them to him.

Great to see Dan! Next time a newbie posts a question about the best turning tools to start with, probably should link to this thread

Congratulations Blaine,
Excellent Pen, Great Design and Exercution.
You handle the Skew, like it was an extension of your Arm and Hand, well done.
Terrific Fit and Finish, and you have a great Grand Dad to Boot.
Dan, it is hard to say who gets the most enjoyment, you or your Grandsons.
High Praises All Round,
Brian.
