On July 25th 1956 the Andrea Doria collided with the Stockholm off of Nantucket, MA. Forty-six persons and the Andrea Doria were lost.
On July 27th, 1956 two amateur divers successfully reached the wreckage of the Andrea Doria.
During the period of 1956-2015, sixteen divers lost their lives diving to the Andrea Doria.
On July 8th, 2004 two divers recovered a portion of the teak handrail of the Andrea Doria.
Today, you can own a pen blank made from that handrail.
Spring cleaning 2016 continues. The blank is teak supplemented with blue filler. It is 5.25 inches long and 13/16ths square. Comes with COA (Dive record – shown rolled in white tube in the photo). I bought it from Dawn in 2010 and it has been safely lost ever since…
