The fall issue of Woodturning Design magazine has an article about turning an aluminum pen. They don't suggest a source for the aluminum as they got the aluminum from a local machine shop. Anyone know of a source for aluminum that could be used for pens?

Check with Onlinemetals.com, industrialmetalsales.com or McMaster Carr. The stuff you can buy in HD or Sears Hardware is not good. Get some 6061 or 6063 for pens, machines very nice.

Rudy, thanks for the links. I don't know why I assumed aluminum would cost a lot. I just ordered 3' of 3/4" stock for less than $6.00. Of course shipping more than doubled the cost. Now I can't wait to get it and turn one of them there fancy aluminum pens.
