So I,ve been toying with the idea of making my own Oland style woodturning tool and handles for it and other tools. Being out of work the last 2 months I didn't want to go and buy them, I figured it would be no problem making them myself and I could make them without breaking the bank.
Other than not knowing anyone close who has a metal lathe, sourcing solid aluminum for the ends of the handles has been a real pain. I was fortunate enough to find a source for inch stainless steel for the main part of the handle which would be later filled with lead shot, but I can't locate lead shot here either. Braided hose was a lucky find also.
We seem to have nothing readily available to us over here. When I browsed the net looking for the above items I really envied you guys. It seemed like anything you could want you could get it easily.
