A Weird Looking Bowl

A few days ago I got a large piece of LVL (laminated veneer lumber) for free from the business in town that makes truss's .
Then late yesterday I got a new Delta lathe and of course I had to try it out.. I wanted to see how that LVL would work for turning on a lathe. A small sample piece of the LVL is included in the picture .
The bowl is 8" diameter x 2 1/2" deep.

Did you add the solid segment, or was that a thick veneer on the lumber?

Bill, what model of new lathe did you get, was the Rykon not big enough? Delta yes, but what model # and size? Any pics?
