An interesting twist on a segmented pen. Done in Maple and Ebony on a Slimline pen. I'm also test-driving my new photo booth. Only $30 off of eBay, included the tent, two lights, tripod, and an assortment of backdrops.
The pen and photo look great. One thing though, I think the dragon kinda takes away from the pen. You want the pen to be the center of attention. IMO. I am working on a similar segment. No where near as nice as this though.
I agree with your comments about the dragon, but my anxiousness to try the new photo tent and a serious lack of imagination prevented me from finding something more appropriate. I need to search the archives for better ideas. Feel free to submit your ideas for a "pen prop".
Nice work. I like to use a shell or piece of coral, small stone, small burl or an acrylic stand. You really want the pen to be the focus. The other is literally a "prop" for the pen... just so it isn't lying flat on the backdrop. Keep posting!!!
