I made a little bit of time in the shop this weekend. From left to right: stabilized birdseye maple gold baron with purple inlay, stabilized green maple satin pearl cigar pen, york gum burl jr gents rollerball. Thanks for looking.
now ya done it. one of the blanks I drilles yesterday was a York Gum. for a... you guessed it. Jr. Gent. or statesman can't remember which now. anyway you got me all worked up to get it turned now. maybe a midnight run to the shop. tomorrow is only monday. yeah yeah got all week to recover. yeah.
Thanks guys (and gal), The york gum is a piece that I got from Lee Tannenbaum (leetree). I ended up finishing it three times because I couldn't get a finish I liked on it. The first two times I used a BLO/CA and just couldn't get a good even sheen. The third time I used tung oil and then Beall buffed it using Ren Wax instead of carnauba for the final wheel. It's still more of a satin finish but I think it came out nicely.
