In another thread Glycerine asked about my drum sander that I made from the motor from my old drill press. I used one of those really cheap and nasty router tables as the base. The best thing about these tables is that they come with a NVR with an emergency stop, which is often more expensive if bought alone. I suppose a NVR ( No Volt Release ) isn't really needed on a drum sander, but hey, I had it:biggrin:
The pics are numbered and should be self explainitory. The only part that needs to be made properly is the adaptor bush that connects the drums to the motor shaft. Mine is made from aluminium and can easily be made on a wood lathe.
I use MDF 'sub bases' for each size drum so that I can get close up and just put blocks under these bases to use a fresh part of the sandpaper.
