My first Jr Statesman; my first fountain pen; my first desert ironwood burl:

Sorry for the lousy pictures, I didn't have the energy to set up the full photo-rig so this is hand-held on the dining table on my keyboard protector.

A few "crud"s: 1) under-turned at the end-cap (probably from too much CA); 2) fighting to get the end-cap bushing off caused some minor surface scratches; 3) CA lifted just a hair at the end-cap side. Anyone see a common cause here?: I glued the bushing to the blank in a BIG way. *sigh*

Oh well, if it weren't flawed somewhere it wouldn't be mine.

GK
ps Thanks to WolfDancer for this gorgeous blank!!

Nice first for all of them. I have heard using bees wax helps with the CA but I use Delrin bushings for the CA finish. You can also try taking a rasor blade and scoring where the bushing meets the barrel, this way if it sticks it will not pull up the CA or crack. I'm sure there are many more ways but I've found the Delrin works the best.

I have seen this pen in person and the photos do NOT show the BEAUTY of the pen!!

it is a Stunner and the "flaws" are not evident!
