I finally got around to crafting my first conducting baton! This one has a mahogany handle and a natural birch shaft with four Swarovski crystals! Why not? [emoji12]

Baton

I have made 8-10 over the last 4-5 years, mostly for my own use. Gave away 2 to fellow conductors. even sold 2 to a local music store. I tried a variety of materials for the shaft before I settled on bamboo knitting needles. They work great.

Great job on the baton William!
I was going to take a store bought baton and make a new handle for our daughter to give to one of her conductors but just never got back to it...still on the bench!
What length shaft did you use here? Looks long, Is it a 14"?

I need lots more practice but I was pretty happy for my first attempt. I used it today and it felt great, I'll definitely make many more!
