A bunch of Pure Aussies

a month or so ago a friend sent me a message requesting 5 pens made from Australian Timbers to send overseas as presents to the people he shot with at the World Field Archery Championships, i made 10 and let him pick which ones he wanted, i am glad i didn't have to pick

the rest went AWOL so here is the new bunch

all are Aussie Executive Sieras (they have Kangaroos around the band) and the finish is BLO/CA

Brown Mallee Burl
Coolabah Burl
Corgutta Burl
Corgutta Burl
Karri Burl (lots of holes in this one but i used CA on the sand paper to fill the holes with the dust)
Myrtle Burl
Red Mallee Burl
Red Morrell Burl
Tassie Eucalypt Burl
York Gum Burl

all of these burls were very hard and turned extremely well

i wonder which will be the first one to sell this time, i like them all, too hard to pick again

Great looking group of pens. The corrugata and york gum would be my first choices, but there's not a bad looking pen in the bunch.

i use medium CA only
2 coats of straight CA with accelerator
then 6-8 coats of -
a small drop of BLO onto a workshop cloth with CA on top of that then apply
rubbing with lots of pressure
MM top 5 only
plastic polish and a buff with a white compound

hope this helps and you can understand it

I tried to find just one that I did not like...couldn't do it. Each one better than the one before it. Even the photography is outstanding.
Box up a bunch of those woods and send me a bill.
