Here are a couple dyed plexi-tone stabilized pens. I used Transtint dye in the mix. Since I don't have a real vacuum system I simply put the mix in a speghetti jar and drill a hole in the lid. I then put all this in a vacuum bag and use my Foodsaver vac. It works great, the blanks sink overnight, and the penetration is complete.

The first is 90 degree cross cut spalted hackberry and the second is 90 degree cross cut spalted pecan. Both use CA for the finish. Both are georgeous in person but of course the pics do not do them justice. The spider web effect in the hackberry pen is due to the pith being centered in the blank!

Very nice!! I'll have to try the stabilzation your way. I tried the food saver once before without much luck. I'll have to try again. Are your blanks dry when you put them in? How thin is your plexi mixture? Thanks, Alice
