14" bandsaw question

I'm looking at possibly picking up a 14" buffalo band saw. This was the type of bandsaw that you used to get before central machinery came along.

What sort of upgrades can you do to a 14" bandsaw?

I'm thinking about the riser kit which will give me 12" of resaw capacity right?

If you can find a riser kit for it, you will get 12" resaw capability. I have the 14" HF 208 w/riser kit. I have also upgraded the guides to Carter's. I've had it for about 5 years now and wouldn't take 4 times what I have invested in it.

That's what I figured. Is there a similar alternative to the carter guides? I think I saw them for $150 each!
