I also make candlesticks and turn the bases. I can find full 1" oak and 5/4 pine locally. Does anyone know a source for !' lumber (full size, not dressed to 3/4"). I would like other choices than pine and oak

ebay...do a search for the type of wood and add lumber after it. You should see a slew of options. If you buy like this you should be able to get it cheaper by the BF than in pre-cut blank form. That way you can cut it as you need it. Just my $0.02

Been wondering about the numbers listed when looking at lumber.....

Anyone have a listing of what all the numbers mean? Or any other info that would help in making sense of it all!

THANKS,

Barney

The numbers are the thickness in 1/4" increments. 4/4 = 1", 8/4 = 2".
