OK I just turned some ebony that i had gotten for the local Rockler store and am just not happy with the looks. This is the third pen I have tried to turn from this stuff. Its nice and smooth but it just doesnt have that WOW look to put it on a Jr Emperor Rhod/22K( $50.00 kit) So my question isnt about the blank but the brass tubes. It takes a 12.5mm and a 10.5 mm tubes. I checked the tubes in a Jr Gent and a Jr Retro and they are the same tubes but the emperor on the cap tube is maybe a 32nd longer. CSUSA lists the tubes as a different item # and .15 cents more than the Jr Gent .Seeing that its the cap tube that is the different one will they work on the Emperor? Or do i have a bunch of my tubes mixed up. Or do I need to take a break. Thanks Rich H

O yea the ebony I just cant figure out. I have never been able to get it a really deep black look. The finish is smooth but under neath its kind of dull. I am using 6 or 8 coats of CA. MM to 12000 Then Ren Wax. ????????

Is that the Emperor or the Jr Emperor? Just curious, I thought the
Emperor was larger than the Jr Gent

I don't know the particular tubes, but if you test fit the finial in the
tube you can tell if it's the right one. You can also measure the distance
between the nib (extended and installed in the centerband) and the
bottom of the finial (as it would sit in the tube) to see how much clearance
you would have with the pen put together.

Most of the capped pens have plenty of clearance inside the cap, but
you could measure it this way to be sure. 1/32 doesn't sound like an issue
