Thanks to everyone who has submitted payments so far!

With about 24 hours remaining in the payment period, I wanted to send out a subtle reminder to the five four two remaining people who placed orders so they don't lose out on this opportunity.

All orders have been paid! Thank you everyone for your timeliness!

I am placing the order with Tapco now. I have already sent Tapco a sample SKM-192 mechanism to confirm the specs and confirm the finished taps will make the appropriate threads to accommodate the mechanism. They agreed to use it for confirmation.

I will post all updates as they are available.

Some minor progress to report...
As noted in my last post, I mailed Tapco with an SKM-192 mechanism which they received yesterday. I also submitted the order for 60 taps on the same day I mailed the mechanism.
I did not hear a response from Tapco until today when I called to request an update. They confirmed the mechanism is indeed M4.2 x 0.35 (which we kind of knew would be the case) and they guarantee the taps will match (this is the part I wanted to see in writing). However, they caveat that the choice of materials we tap into may impact the resulting fit, so be mindful of that. I agreed and asked to formally submit the order. I wanted to do all of that confirmation stuff just due to the sad stories I read from people who purchased these taps in the past and had no recourse when they ended up being too small or a bad fit.
At 1:50pm EST, they responded indicating they would "send an acknowledgement shortly". As of 8:30pm EST, I haven't received that acknowledgement, but I didn't want to wait around until that happened before I shared what updates I had for those wondering what might be going on.
Thanks for your patience and I'll return with updates as they come.

Update: The taps have been paid for and I have received a tracking number!
In the interest of transparency, the shipping to me ended up costing $27.77 via UPS Ground. I'll happily eat the $2.77 that was in addition to the original $25 estimate.

I'll update the group when the taps arrive and when orders start shipping.

Hi all.
As part of my commitment to continuous communication with the group purchase participants, I want to share where things stand since my last update...

I still have not received the order.

Received this email a few days ago:

But as of this morning, May 11:

Kind of unusual, but I'll remain patient for now. If I don't see any movement by Monday, I will reach out to Tapco to let them handle it. It's between them and UPS until it arrives at my doorstep as far as I'm aware. Sometimes packages just pop up out of the blue.

Have a good weekend!

I have had 2 incoming shipments that were supposed to arrive on Thursday but have been delayed in transit. Now arriving on Monday. I bet there is a delay in their network somewhere in the Midwest. Maybe due to weather this week.

Maybe, but it seems to have gotten stuck in PA. I'm not too up to speed on logistics, so any explanation is possible to me.

Where do you live? I'm in Dillsburg, just 20 minutes south of Harrisburg. Maybe when they do show up I can save you a little bit of shipping and just meet up with you.

Thank you very much for your offer! I live in Virginia, but the package just seems to be stuck in a UPS distribution center on its way to me. If there were such a thing as intercepting a package along its route, I'd definitely consider doing so for a lot of my packages due to my impatience. haha

Gotcha. Yeah where it shows it's sitting is like 20 minutes from me

The taps have finally arrived! Behold...

I'm going to spend the next few days packing, shipping, and sending out tracking numbers to each of you. It might not be until this weekend that you hear back from me individually just due to some other obligations I have going on. I was really hoping I'd be able to do all of this last weekend. Thank you for your patience so far!

International orders have been shipped. An email should have been sent that includes your tracking number. If you didn't receive one or have any other questions, feel free to reach out.

US orders will be boxed today and hopefully shipped out tomorrow.
Got my tracking number. Thanks.

In case anyone was wondering, I got around to testing the tap out on a small piece of brass rod. The SKM-192 screws into the tapped threads perfectly. Nice, smooth, and secure. No play from what I can tell.

I used this exact drill bit. A #24 wire gauge bit which comes out to 3.86mm or 0.152". Your mileage may vary depending on the material being tapped.

Everyone should now have your tracking numbers.

Now I'm on the way to the post office!

You should start seeing movement late this evening or tomorrow.

Thank you everyone for making this process easy for me. I hope you're all able to put the taps to good use. I look forward to seeing some kitless click pens soon!
I was wondering what the random tracking number was that I got yesterday. I was trying to figure out what I had ordered. I completely forgot about these LOL. Thank you for all you did on this

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I was looking at it wondering what I had ordered. Checked all my regulars before checking here and figured it out.
Yeah, the emails that get sent out are super generic and I don't think I had an opportunity to edit the content of them before the shipping service sends them out. Sorry about that.

I did the exact same thing. At first I thought it was the Carter & Son tool that I have ordered, because I shouldn't have anything else on order right now and then realized it wasn't coming from the same place. So I went through some of my other accounts wondering what I had ordered and forgot about. I'm not ashamed to say, I order so much that I often forget what I have coming 😂

I got my taps in the mail today. Everything looks great! Thanks again for running this group buy!

Great! Thanks for letting me know.
My biggest concern is sending the wrong things to the wrong people at this point. Before it was making sure USPS acknowledged acceptance of all of the packages. They took their sweet time with that. haha

They are Here !!!! Thank you so much for all that it took to make this happen.....order was delivered perfectly.

Just ordered some of the mechanisms from Exotic Blanks so I can start putting a few of these together.

Hi! New here. Found the thread while Googling m4.2x0.35 tap but too late to join the group buy. Any chance this will happen again any time soon? Thanks. Bush (yes real Name, LOL)

Hi Bush,
I responded to your inquiry on the woodbarter.com site as well, but I'm not so sure there will be another one of these group buys planned in the near future, which is why we kept the open period for this one open for so long. To allow as many eyes on it as we thought would reasonably see it in time.
I can imagine how frustrating it must be to run across this closed group buy after there never having been one in the past (that I'm aware of at least). I left you a few options to consider in the other thread. I hope you're able to get your hands on a tap!

Thanks! If or when a new group buy happens I'll be sure to keep an eye out.
