I had someone ask and really had no idea washing checks was even a thing people did. What type if refills cannot be washed out of checks? I was told gel inks are "safe", I usually supply BPs with ezflow9000 or Itoya aquaroller which are "gel-ish". What about Schmidt 5888/888?

I am pretty sure private reserve has some "safety" inks and cartridges that are specially made for the signing of important documents

Most gel inks (Parker type refills) will not wash away with acetone and a Q-Tip.
Those inks are marked as "permanent".

As for Private Reserve ink, the only ones that I have found that will not wash away with acetone are, in fact, the ones marked as "gel".

The uniball rollerball refills are also listed as "permanent", but I have not tried to wash these inks.

Noodler's has several groups of inks. Two of them are advertised as being impervious to all known solvents. "Bulletproof" inks and "Warden series" are excellent inks

+ 1 on the Noodler's and the Parker Gel's, I use mostly Private Reserve inks, but for the most part their inks are water based so they will wash out pretty easily, but they flow so nicely!!!

hi
yes some signo uniballs are maked as check safe and water proof. i like these refills, the feel of them writing.
Has anyone adapted commercial refills to any of the available pen kits we use? Very hard? Need metal lathes?
Thanks

The Uni-Ball 207 fits the Sierra click type pens without modifications. You just leave out the little metal extension. Makes the feel of the click a little better too.
