So, I'd squared off a few blanks and I had a strip of mahogany left over about 2mm wide. "What can I do with this?"

Well, the answer is to slice a piece of beech diagnally and glue the mahogany in between. Then do it again the same direction, then again in the diagonally opposite direction. Voila! Inlaid blank to turn.

This is pen number 9. Get ready for 10. It's a biggie.

Yeah. I agree. I had to learn the hard way, though!! That's me all over!
Next time, I'll either make a bigger overlap or keep teh segments away from the band altogether.
 
Pen 100. Hmmmm. It will probably be a few years yet. I think pen number 10 is actually going to be a pencil. Should I reset the counter? No, I think I have to maintain a seperate counter for each type of turning. Once I finish pen(cil) 10, I want to turn a new handle for my razor and perhaps a soap dish. Maybe the novelty of counting them will wear off.
