I was in Ybor City, in Tampa this past week for an investigations class that really shook me mentally. To try to get my mind off of the sick and demented persons that occupy our society, I walked around Ybor City. I purchased some really nice cigar boxes for display purposes. My question is, how do you display your pens in a cigar box? Do you use anything to hold the pen to the level of the opening? I need some ideas and if you can, please post some photos.

Thanks to all and I hope you all have a safe Memorial Day!

If you search some jewelry supply website and look for display supplies you can find some case display pieces that you can cut and fit into a box. When I get back to my computer I can find some links to send you.

I made inserts for these ones. Covered in felt.

What about making a rather thick, fitted insert and cover it with nice material. This will allow the pens to be seen without bending over and looking in the box. I may also put a thin chain from the box to the lid.

I have a couple of cigar boxes...I was thinking of making a "wedge" from some shipping foam, then covering in felt, to display at a slight angle. Easy to work with and put "v"'s in it to snuggle pens in. I'll let ya know when I finish and post pic.

Ybor's home

Here are a few photos of one that was gifted to me a few years ago, I took the photos quickly and can if you want take more detailed photos.
Any time I see a post about Tampa and Ybor City it tugs at my heart. Dad owned a store back in the 50's 60's 70's and 80's on 7th ave (Broadway) and 19th street in Ybor and I was raised eating Cuban Sandwiches and deviled crabs at the old Silver Ring, The Columbia and the Tropicana restaurants .

Michelle,

This is not a cigar box, it is actually a box used in labs to hold slides. It is thinner than a cigar box. I gutted it and added the accordion tray. Sorry for the bad pic, but you can probably get the idea.

I've got 2 just like that Roy! Probably from the same guy. Plus I found one at a cigar shop that already had dividers in it that worked perfectly.

Then I had a great find at an antique store with this cigar humidor. Holds quite a few pens. Just needs some padding inside the slots which I haven't gotten around to.
