Some members here might recall when I got some purple plum logs and cut it up and stickered it to dry like this back in April .
I have been doing some final drying by another method of drying on half a dozen of them just to try it out .
Here is the results of one totally dry blank that I turned this afternoon .
I have way more of this wood than I can use so will be putting some in my buy/sell board when I get around to drying a quantity of it just to cover my expenses of getting it and milling it into pen blanks . It is now in 1 x 1 x 6 and will be re-sawn to 3/4 x 3/4 x 5
It is quite a hard wood but turns and sands nicely and takes a good finish.
Finished in 4 coats of BLO/CA 20 seconds apart followed by One Step Polish and then TSW .
