A very good customer asked me to meet her at a fine jewelry store, she wanted to show me a pen. The pen she pointed out was a Dunhill, and she wanted me to see it because she wants a pen made in a similar acrylic/resin color combination. The color of the acrylic was grey with a little orange in it.
I try to copy an image of a pen here, actually that should be the link that will guide you to the picture:

I believe I have seen here some time back a pen made from a similar colored acrylic material. If someone can guide me towards some blanks in this color combination, that would be great.

Have you checked the A.S. site, he has some nice acrylics. Also Ed4copies has some really pretty blanks. Even WC has a bunch of new colors as a last resort. I hope that this helps.

Rudy, the closest thing I remember seeing to the pen you show is a grey/silver & red acrylic from Martin (Woodbin IIRC).

But it's got red in it, not orange.

rudy, i don't have any info regarding the blank you seek, but i'm sure you'll find something similar. i do have a question though, how much was that pen selling for in the jewelry store? and lastly, i KNOW your pen will come out way nicer than that one. good luck.

Hey Rudy,

I got one just like that from Woodcrafters a couple of weeks ago.

I turned a nice round top European out of it. With the orange in it, it looks like it has flames running through it.

I think it is a match to what you are looking for. Check their website, they have 2 that are similar, the one I bought was grey pearl with orange. The other one they offer has the same colored ribbons, but it is black.

If you tell me how to post a pic, I will post it for you.

Good Luck,
Steve

Hey Again,

I just went to the WC site to look for it.

Here is the link: http://www.woodcraft.com/family.aspx?FamilyID=20329

Check item #148195 "Lava" that is the blank I was referring to. Their picture is not a very good one, the pen I turned was a much better blank.

Also found it listed at CSUSA: http://www.woodturnerscatalog.com/store/Turning_Materials___Pen_Blanks___Celluloid_Pen_Blank___celluloid?Args=

Bottom right corner, called "orange" here.

I believe it was something like $250 or $280.

The CSUSA blank is what I found to be the closest looking. I had checked pretty much all sites before I posted the question, but I will check out also the Woodbin stuff.
