Live collet for tailstock?

All this talk on the one thread about how and what kind of live center to use and machining it or the mandrel and yadda yadda...


Why doesn't someone just make an AFFORDABLE live ball bearing collet chuck to accept the 1/4" mandrels? Couple it with the Beall and any oval pens you get is pretty much all yo' fault.


LMS has a "live" jacobs chuck, but I can't say if it's as precision as a collet, haven't dumped the $50 for it.

Now that's an interesting idea! I'm not sure I'd have much use for the live jacobs chuck outside of that, but $50 really isn't that bad.

Pretty simple, actually. Not very much demand for such an item and it would just not be cheap to make.
