I need a bright red color and when I add it to the epoxy it turn almost black after the epoxy sets up. I have used Mixol tint and another liquid, both with the same result. The powdered micas I use keep their color, but I have not found a bright mica powder yet.

Ihis happens in both the epoxy from woodcraft and Monty's 5 min and 30 min.

Any suggestions?

Rio Grande has variety of colored epoxy resins under the COLORES name & Red is part of the neutrals set. It mixes 2 parts resin to 1 part of their hardener.

Paint works great, testors, nail polish, or even latex artist paint works great. The thing is though, if you use 5 minute epoxy, expect it to set in about 2 minutes with the paint in it! It will set real fast, but you will want it to sit over night to harden, as it won't harden as fast because of the paint in it. Then it'll chisel and sand just fine.
