I got some stabilized box elder burl from AS. Cool colors. The blanks got some bow to them. What's the best way to drill these when they a bowed like that. I normally use a Crafts Supply drilling vise to drill my blanks. Probably a bigger worry is getting them square after drilling. Should mount them on the tubes and them turn them round, then square them?
Thanks as always for any help!

Corey,
After cutting the blanks for your tube sizes the bowing will be noticibly lessened. You should be able to use your vise without issue to drill the blanks. As far as squaring the blanks, put them on your lathe and turn them just enough round them and then you can square them with the pen mill without worry. I have done several blanks this way and haven't had any problems.

Enjoy! [:D]

Dave, thanks for the response. I looked at them and I think you are right after I segment them it will be much less noticeable. The one is bad enough that I think will have to turn them a bit like you said.
Thanks again,
Corey
