The 7mm tube will slip inside the 8mm tube. It's a great tip. The first one piece slimline I made, I didn't use the 8mm tube and it turned so hard that it was a real pain to use.

There is an 8 mm PENCIL tube sold by Penn State and a 8 mm Pen tube.

The 8 mm PENCIL tube is a few thousands smaller and is a better fit.

Either will work -- pencil tube just works better.

One bag will last a long long time unless you are using them to hold soda straw punnies for a drop spindle spinner --- and if you do not live with a spinner, you probably do not care.

I was just going to get the bulk tubes from Wood-N-Whimsies.

It doesn't have to slide much Its going to be glued to the 7 mm tube.

Better read those instructions again unless you are trying something different.

I think my answer is yes I'm doing something different. I'm moding this kit for casting and need one long tube from clip to trim ring.

Here is my plan.

I'm adding a 3" 8 mm tube that will be wrapped, its a surprise mostly because I'm not sure its gong to work :).

Ken,
My knowledge of metrics ain't too good, so could you tell an ole country boy how 8mm is larger than 8mm !!
Ben

The difference is in labels and that is why the caps. The dial calipers show smaller numbers with the Pencil tubes. PSI notes that the Pencil tubes do not work for pens.

The pencil tubes fit inside 30 cal rifle case mouths and the pen tubes do not.

Note that the 8mm is the convention of which drill bit is normally used rather than a measurement.
