This "diameter guage" was given to me as an appreciation gift from a now defunct woodworking store in my hometown.

Do you know what it is really called? and better still do you know where I can purchase it?

One tip I heard from Norm Abram is to use an open end wrench to measure tenons. The wrench end is about .006" larger than the stated size, but if it slips over the tenon, BINGO!

You had better measure that wrench first. That dimension only works for good quality tools when they are new. All wrenches can be larger from use, and cheap imports aren't very accurate to start with.
