Yesterday, my new friend "Guts" dropped off some Texas wood for me to try..I had never turned cross cut osage orange so I couldnt wait to get home and make some yellow sawdust. The second pen is from a slab of mesquite..Im liking this texas wood...slice me up some brisket and pop open a lone star:)

Harold, that x cut OO is awesome! There is no way you can tell me that was easy to turn. I am sure I would have had a few frustration attacks turning that blank lol
Great job on both pens [:)]

It wasn't as tough as I thought it would be..I sharpened the gouge many times..once I got the corners off it, it went pretty easily..I was amazed at how shinney it was just from the tool. Im really starting to like OO more and more. This will be my "work pen" for now
