After being away from kitless for toooooooooooooooooooo looooong, I finally got back around to trying it again. The cap blank came from Woodturnings, (I'm not sure what it it) the lower barrel is a home cast alumilite. Bock #5 nib and Schmict converter. C and C most welcome

Ha Ha. I thought you were talking about the band. "The Yardbirds" most of the younger people will have never heard of them.

Still working on my first kitless - solving the problems as they arise out of the woodwork/acrylicwork!

Cap looks pretty nifty! Almost a coffee/cream look?
The body is well done, from the photo's you have here...I'm thinking it'd be hard to find any sanding marks. Did you buff this blank?

What tap/die sizes did you use on this?

Joe, That is a beautiful piece of work...Really like what you did with the threads as well as the duo look of the barrel and cap... really complement each other. How do you like working with alumilite? Regards, Doc :)

Thanks Scott: All threads on this one, were single start. 9 X 0.75 on finial and 12 X 0.75 Cap to Bbl. Finish was wet sand through 2000 Wet MM through 12,000 and Novus
Cap OD at clip .571 Barrel OD at cap .509

Sorry, Scott for the separate post, but when I tried to send as a quote response, I kept getting the "too short message, it must be at least three letters long" message. Being computer dumb I had to do it this way. Maybe someone can teach me how to "Reply":embarrassed:

Thanks Doc: I'm loving the alumilite, though it is a bit different. You don't just knock it from a pvc mold, you turn off the pvc or belt sand a couple sides, down to the alumilite, and peel off the pvc. Once, this kinda freaked me out as, while peeling off the pvc, the alumilite "bent". Guess it needed a couple hours more to totaly "mature":biggrin::biggrin:. Rolled on a flat surface to straighten. I really do like it. Threads much better than Silmar PR.
