I'm calling these blanks Cottonuity blanks. They are resin cast cottonwood bark. Haven't seen them before, so for now I'm claiming the credit for the idea and name...but of course these wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for Eugene who was the creator. I actually forgot all about them, had the thought and sent a box load of the bark to him several months back and then was surprised when they showed up in the mail a few weeks ago. Cottonwood bark is very common in wood carving, especially for beginner practice. Very similar to cedar wood on the inside but harder and holds a better edge. Most commonly carved into wood spirits or gnome homes. They spin like butter and take CA without issues. Eugene did an awesome job building them..who knows, maybe some will show up some time on his menu...lets hope so.
