A piece of floor board recycled from a house extension in Griffith NSW. Original house about 80 yrs old but extension only 3 yrs old.

Centre band from steel or wood?

Unless your using a metal steel is probably out of the question. On a wood lathe you could make them out of aluminum, wood, acrylic or anything that you can turn. By being limited by the size of the kit center band you can really open up your design opportunities.
