I just finished this wedding present of a Kingwood bread knife and wine stopper. This is the second set I've made in 2 weeks. The other set was made with Zebrawood, but I didn't have time to take a picture of it.

The Kingwood turned so easily, that I spent the majority of my time sanding and finishing, removing any imperfections that I could see.

Let me know what you think, as I will be making more for several other people.

Thanks,
Jeff

I'll answer both questions. It is fairly easy to remove the wine stopper. And the hilt is part of the blade which is all one piece. I looked at the other style blade, which was two or three parts, and it looked cheap. I got both the stopper and the knife blade from Craft Supplies, although there are no instructions on the size and depth of the hole for the shank. I had to do a little measuring. The drill bit was a size 1 and the depth is about 2 1/2".

By the way, I saw the couple that I gave the Zebrawood set to, and they loved it. In fact, they were opening a bottle of wine when they opened the gift.
