G'day Gary from Uganda, and welcome to the frustration!:):D
A lot of oz woodworkers have this paroblem because many of us have shed mad from steel frames and sheeting. In winter in particular the colder air condenses the moiture in the air and this effects the tools. Best way to combat this that I have found is to put them in drawers and/or cover them with cloth.

I did WW in my garage for many years, and moisture was always a problem. Keeping them in drawers or covered, as was mentioned, is a good idea to limit exposure. You could also buy some plastic storage containers, like Tupperware or similar. Wipe the tools down with some light oil or paste wax before putting them away.

Cheers.
