Hey there...

I've recently purchased a bunch of bottle stoppers and a mandrel from WoodnWhimisies, but I'm have a problem drilling the hole and tapping it. I can't seem to get the tap size down, so I can thread it onto the mandrel. Its either TOO tight, and impossible to get off after I've turned it, or too LOOSE, and strips once I start turning.

Could someone perhaps more familiar with tap&dies provide me with the correct tap and drill size, please?

Thanks in advance;

Mike

You may want to soak in some thin CA inside the tapped hole and let it sit. Then come back, re-tap the hole and then thread it. This will harden your threads, you could also start using a washer made from a milk jug to keep it from locking on the mandrel.

Thanks for the info, I was able to get it going without it self destructing... even made a few stoppers.
