She launched today, the next to last.

It reminded of this photo that a dear friend emailed me a few months back....STS 134 on the pad as she awaited her finial trip into the heavens.

It's one of those photos that just kinda makes you stare in wonder. If you hadn't seen the it before, I thought that this would be a good day to share.

Here are two pictures I took for the International Space Station in Mission Control Center Houston. I was lucky to be on console for the launch.

You know I purchased the Endevor and will be installing her in my back yard as the worlds largest coin operated armatron. I will fill it with stuffed toys and charge a dollar per try to use the arm and retrieve one.

Seriously though plse email me the photo

Dawn,

Thanks so much for sharing this awesome picture. I hope you don't mind, but it is now the wallpaper on my brand new Mac Pro laptop. One of my dreams and definitely on my bucket list was to ride the shuttle into space for my days come to an end. Now that dream looks like it will be just that, a dream.:frown:

Nice, Thanks for sharing. I can still remember watching the first moon walk on a tiny B&W TV in my third grade classroom. I was fortunate enough to be in Florida at one of her launches. Though I was about 20 miles away it was an impressive sight. I'll always be in awe and envy of those lucky souls who got to ride in a shuttle.

How anyone can let this come to an end is beyond me. We should have new bigger better fancier shuttles than ever before. I don't want to go back to Apollo launches. We are the United States for goodness sakes! This is an outrage. I wish I could fund the program myself. And..best I just leave my anger at that.

If you have enough money and live long enough, you may see Virgin Moonlines offering short jaunts around the moon!!

I would pay a fortune for that, if I had it...

I've been a space geek as long as I can remember...probably the only ten year old in my town with a signed photo of Chris Hadfield and Story Musgrave in my room. I bore my classes all the time with space trivia - but now at least they know that Lance Armstrong wasn't the first man on the moon! :)
