I tried the second kit out with this wonderful stuff that grew in my front yard. I had one problem with it, the top tube stuck about 1/32 inch out and I couldn't get it to loosen with heating. Now this would be a serious problem with this style as the tube would need to be cut short of the tranny and plug. I got past that by measuring the tranny with the plug pressed on and the length of the squared blank, wound up measuring about .040" difference. I filed the plug down on top till the difference was less than .01. I left it there for clearance to prevent binding. Once assembled the pen was a great fit.

Rockler. It's a Berea Hardwoods kit. Theres a few kits out there that match the design made by others but I haven't had time to find out all about them yet.
