I have had a few transmissions out of several 100 that won't stay in position. When you twist open the pen and write with it the transmission will twist back and the cartridge goes back inside the pen. Have any of you folks had this problem?

yep, it's definitely a problem and an annoying one at that. i would recommend contacting the vendor and trying to swap them out. that's been my solution anyway. I don't know of any way to actually fix them when they do that. or just huck it and put in another.

It's a pain to dis-assemble them without wreaking the transmission. I have had good response from woodturninz when I've asked for replacements. I have run into more of them in the last 100 kit batch and wondered if anyone else has noticed an increase in frequency. Looks to me like the factory had some quality control problems.

A few out of several hundred is not bad. Disassembly is straight-forward. I would just knock out the bad one and replace it.
