Red Mallee - I love desert timbers

Red Mallee Dayacom Pen.

I had an offcut too small for a standard size pen but big enough to make a Dayacom. Was going to make it a Sierra but had just enough length for the Dayacom.

Sanded to 1200 grit, 20 thin coats of CA, wet sanded with micro mesh to 12,000 grit, Brasso then a final coat of automotive wax.

Again very happy with the results. The red is a very rich burgundy red, which I love.

Great pen with an awesome finish . I love red mallee burl but it don't seem to like me very much . Almost every one I have done , even stablized , has developed cracks after a while . On one pen it took over a year but it cracked on a grain line .

And Todd, the kit is called the Stretch...Aaron at LauLauWood sells them and they are made by Dayacom. They're similar to the Zen kit, but the Stretch cap screws on and the Zen cap is magnetic. HTH!
