old oak

this is a pen made from old barn oak. I got 2 beams 2.5"x12"x10ft.It turns beautifully and is hard as a rock. what a great chetoyance when finished, eventhough it is not an exciting color.

its not, but I do have some american chestnut....it, too is not a colorful wood, but looks good when finished.

Nice pen ... I agree who needs color when you got chatoyance... that is one of the reasons I like black locust... a fairly yellow gold color, but fantastic chatoyance..

The grain on that is outstanding!....I would never had guessed oak. A great looking pen.
