I just received a couple of Inlace Acrylester blanks as part of a trade, but have never tried them before. How do they compare to other types of blanks? Is there anything I need to watch out for?

All tips and tricks welcome,

Like Alfred said "light touch and sharp tools" are extra important with Inlace blanks , they are very brittle . Learn how to ride the bevel with your tools and you wwill have no problems with them . They are my favorite blanks to turn , they polish to a higher shine then any other blank out there .
 
If you have a belt or drum sander, try sanding off the edges, this will help you to start if you are not too confident with yout tool . Depending on the color, you might want to paint your tube too.
 
Not a bad idea to cut the blank longer than you need it to be, drill the blank sections but not quite all the way through, then trim them to reveal the hole. Otherwise, the risk of a drill blowout is high.
 
Brittle..YEP! (as the others already said)
Can be very nice when done though.
If you are getting any kind of broken gritty glass sound, stop and
re-evaluate..this stuff can pit/blow out like mad!
