This pen was originally going to be one I sent for the charity auction. But as I finished turning and started to sand, I noticed an interesting development in the shape. I had been trying to put some curves in so that the wood would have more character and depth. I could have turned the pen down, but I decided it was kind of fun, and I wouldn't send it to the kids, but would just keep it for my personal use around the house. I named this pen "Lola". The first picture shows her more demure side, the second picture shows where she got her name. I hope no one is offended!

She is a showgirl!

Nice pen and yes, she is unique. I haven't seen that design yet...closest was from Billy [;)]. Your finish is very nice. Please tell us the wood and finish.

Pretty neat pen Angela! And I agree...not necessarily the best thing to send to a children's charity auction, although if Lou were there it sounds like the bidding could get intense! [:D]

Now see, I would have called it something like your "humerus pen". (sp?) Is it bloodwood? I'm with Dario, I always want to know what kind of wood is being used. If you market it as a bone pen, it might "fetch" a good price. Sorry, that's all I could come up with on short notice. If anyone has a bone to pick with me.....
It is good that you are abreast of the situation and didn't send it to a kids' charity. I guess that last one was almost tolerable.
Rob

BTW, that is a nice finish.

Thanks for the feedback everybody! (And the laughs!) I got a kick out of the way this pen came out. The finish is the CA/BLO finish, or at least my attempts at it- don't know for sure if I'm doing it exactly right, but it seems to be working. As for the wood type, your guess is as good as mine! This is one that my dad made the blanks for me, and if he knew, he didn't tell me and I haven't had a chance to ask- so it'll remain "mystery wood" for the time being! If I find out, I'll let you know. As for the cup size question, I didn't measure her exactly, but based on my personal experience, I'd say probably a C!

BTW, a friend of mine at work today (after he called this my "porno pen" and asked if any federal agents had been knocking at my door[:)]) pointed out that it could look like a racecar as well! I'm not quite sure I saw that, but it was a thought!

I guess he was thinking of headlights! [:p] BTW, it looks a lot like many of the true rosewoods.

People had asked about the finish I used on this pen and I had said CA/BLO. Tonight as I was finishing another pen, I realized I forget to include that I used friction polish over the CA/BLO finish. So I thought I would add that in case anyone wanted to know the total finish process I used.
