I wanted to play in my newly rearranged workshop tonight so I wandered down and started poking around for something to do. I had some limbs from the Kwanzan cherry on the floor in the corner kinda in the way so I found a new home for them under a table and broke off a good dry twig about an inch in diameter. Played around on the bandsaw with it and got it squared somewhat, then decided on a Trimline 7mm to put it on. Stuff was punky on one end, I doused the inside of the holes with thin CA to harden it up then glued the tubes in. When I started turning I found a bright orange blaze on the upper barrel started showing. By the time I got done it showed a good spread around the barrel. The lower one took a lot of buildup of medium CA to relevel everything as the punky stuff turned out pretty lumpy.
For a simple 7mm pen this thing was a lot of work, still it looks pretty good.
